There are some things we just don’t want to live with! |
Insects are arthropods. They are the most diverse group of animals on the planet. Insects represent more than half of all known living organisms and potentially represent over 90% of the differing life forms on earth, with over a million species already described. The most common insect pest in homes today are fleas, cockroaches, termites, ants, and flies. Did you know there are over 2,000 flea, 4,000 cockroach, 4,000 termite, 120,000 fly species. While we can’t list each insect we can identify the most common so you can easily solve your problem. Did you know the largest insect known, but now extinct, was a ancient dragonfly, with a wingspan of more than 2.5 ft wide, it was the largest known flying insect species ever to appear on Earth. The largest complete insect wing ever found was discovered in Oklahoma in 1940; it is conserved in the Harvard Museum of Natural History. Rodents make up of forty percent of the mammal species. They are found in vast numbers on all continents. The common rodents to invade homes and businesses are mice, rats, squirrels, chipmunks, gophers, , and groundhogs. Rodents have sharp incisors that they use to gnaw wood & wires, break into food, and bite predators. Most eat seeds or plants, though some have more varied diets. Some species have historically been pests, eating food stored by people and spreading disease. While gophers and groundhogs usually remain outside; they are a nuisance to many businesses. |
